Gandaki Province requests federal govt to declare Pokhara as tourism capital of Nepal

POKHARA, Nov 17: The provincial government of Gandaki has urged the federal government for the second time to declare Pokhara as the tourism capital of the country. The provincial meeting held on November 12 requested the federal government to make the declaration.

POKHARA, Nov 17: The provincial government of Gandaki has urged the federal government for the second time to declare Pokhara as the tourism capital of the country. The provincial meeting held on November 12 requested the federal government to make the declaration. 


Earlier, the Prithvi Subba Gurung-led government of Gandaki Province had also urged the federal government for the same. Despite the request, then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had declined to make the request.

According to Gandaki Province’s spokesperson and Minister for Physical Infrastructure, Kumar Khadka, the current government had no information or knowledge about the request made by the previous government of the province. “We had no knowledge about the previous request before requesting the federal government to declare Pokhara as the tourism capital,” he said. 


Furthermore, Minister Khadka said that a certain criteria and physical infrastructure will be prepared to declare Pokhara as the tourism capital of Nepal. “Although the Oli government did not accept the proposal, PM Sher Bahadur Deuba is very positive about the request,” Khadka said.
