KATHMANDU, Jan 13: Chief Minister (CM) of Gandaki Province, Khagaraj Adhikari is taking a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly today.
Adhikari, who was appointed as the CM on 9th Jan will take a vote of confidence at 1PM today.
Adhikari was appointed the CM with the support of 33 provincial assembly members - 22 from UML, eight from Maoist Center, two from RPP and one independent member Deepak Manange. However, Manange has said that he will not give a vote of confidence to Adhikari and will remain in the opposition.

The Nepali Congress (NC) has 27 members in the 60-member provincial assembly. Adhikari also sent a letter to Nepali Congress asking for a vote of confidence. Nepali Congress member Dilliram Subedi said that the meeting of the NC parliamentary party is being held and the party will remain in the opposition and not give the vote of confidence to Adhikari.
After being appointed as the CM, Adhikari formed a 4-member cabinet. Sita Sundas from UML, Hari Bahadur Chuman, the leader of the Maoist Parliamentary Party who was also a contender for the chief ministership, and Pancha Tamu of RPP were appointed as ministers.
Adhikari who has already met with UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has prepared for the expansion of the Council of Ministers after taking the vote of confidence.
Before taking the vote of confidence, Adhikari selected Roshan Gahamagar as the party’s chief whip in the provincial assembly on Thursday.
