“As we have our traditional method of making furniture, people involved in this business should learn the latest technology and manufacture new designs so that we can reduce imports,” Suresh Kumar Basnet, president of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), said at a press meet organized in the capital on Wednesday.
Surendra Kumar Sharada, coordinator of the expo, expressed hope that the expo will help both the buyers and sellers. “Buyers and sellers can interact with each other and know about the type of products found in Nepal,” Sharada.
According to the association, Nepal imported furniture worth Rs 1.57 billion in the fiscal year 2010/11 which is a rise of Rs 450 million compared to 2009/10
The organizers are expecting a footfall of around 150,000 in the five-day expo.
