Spokesperson at the District Police Office, Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dineshraj Mainali has requested the petrol pump operators to stop the sale of highly flammable substances in bottles, jerkin and jars.

Police said fuel station operators have been asked to sell or distribute petroleum products openly except for directly filling the vehicles from the petrol pumps. The decision of police authorities came after a young man tried to self-immolate by pouring petrol on his body in front of the parliament building in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon.

Police have also warned of action if petrol pump operators are found selling the petroleum products violating the safety concerns.
