KATHMANDU, July 13: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Dilendra Prashad Badu has stated that there is a need to be vigilant in order to improve the country's economic situation.

He said this while addressing an interaction between the newly-appointed ambassadors and designated businessmen for export promotion in Kathmandu on Wednesday. He said exports had not grown as expected by the government and efforts were being made to revive the economy. Stating that the trade deficit is on the rise, he clarified that work is being done to improve the economic condition of the country keeping this situation in mind.
He said the government was working to improve the current state of the economy and manage the country's growing imports through policies, programs and budget. He added that the government was committed to promoting exports and attracting more foreign investment to Nepal. Similarly, if national production and consumption could be increased, imports could be reduced, he said.
