As per the Local Level Government Operation Act 2074 BS, there is a provision that every local level has to present the budget for the new FY at the rural municipality or municipal assembly within Asar 10 (i.e. within the last week of June) every year.

Mayor of Haripurwa Municipality, Binod Shah, said the municipality has not been able to unveil the budget for the current FY due to the ongoing strike at the municipality. A disgruntled group has padlocked the municipality office.

Similarly, Chandranagar and Basbariya Rural Municipalities have not been able to unveil their budget due to protest by the majority of executive members while Hariwan municipality is in lack of mutual understanding among people’s representatives, it is said.
