Four injured in Air Dynasty chopper crash

SOLUKHUMBU, Sept 27: Four people were injured when a helicopter of Air Dynasty crashed while landing at Lukla airport on Thursday morning. The helicopter 9N AEX crashed after its rotor blade got entangled in the fencing wire of the Airport at around 8.15 AM. The chopper was badly damaged as it caught fire.



Pilot Arun Malla and passengers Lakpa Sonam Sherpa, Dawa Gyaljen Sherpa and Anita Sherpa, of Chaurikharka-8 were injured in the accident. The condition Dawa Gyaljen is said to be critical. He has been airlifted to Kathmandu for the further treatment. [break]



According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Badri Bikram Thapa, pilot Malla as well as Lakpa and Anita, who were undergoing treatment at a local hospital, have also been referred to Kathmandu. The cause of the crash has not been ascertained yet. However, eye witness said the chopper crashed while trying to overtake a Simrik Air chopper while landing at the airport.
