OKHALDHUNGA, Jan 5: Police have arrested four people on charges of murdering an elderly couple and carrying out a robbery in Okhaldhunga.
The arrests were made during an investigation into the killing of a couple in Chishankhugadhi Rural Municipality–6.
Those arrested are 28-year-old Sangam Rai alias Milan of Chisankhu Village–3, 30-year-old Binod Rai of the same rural municipality–4 (Ratmate), 30-year-old Prakash Bhujel and 30-year-old Ashok Bhujel alias Dorje of ward number 8, Mamkha.

The victims, 60-year-old Shobhitman Thapa Magar and his 60-year-old wife Ratnamaya Thapa Magar, who ran a grocery shop in Bhadaure Gairigaun of Chishankhugadhi–6, were murdered last Tuesday.
According to police, the group killed the couple and looted Rs 100,000 in cash, gold ornaments weighing two tolas, and six tolas of unprocessed gold.
A special team comprising the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, and the District Police Office, Okhaldhunga was deployed for the investigation.
Police arrested Sangam from Chisankhu–3 and Binod from ward number 4 on Friday, while Prakash and Ashok were arrested on Saturday.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects were also involved in a previous murder. Police said they had killed 52-year-old Ratnakumari Katwal (Karki) of Siddhicharan Municipality–4, Charkhu, on October 12.
Police recovered two muzzle-loaded guns, a gold ring, an axe, a khukuri knife, and a spade from the accused.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
