SARLAHI, July 22: Former MP Ramchandra Rai was brutally murdered by an unknown group using sharp weapons in Sarlahi.
The assailants struck Rai on the head while he was asleep in his home. According to Sarlahi Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Shrestha, Rai was attacked on the left side of his head around 1 am while he was resting in his house in Ratanpur that lies in Chandranagar Rural Municipality-1.

Upon receiving reports of the murder of the 80-year-old Rai, a team including Madhesh Province Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yagya Binod Pokharel and Sarlahi Police Chief Superintendent of Police (SP) Rabindra Bahadur Singh promptly arrived at the crime scene.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear.
DSP Shrestha confirmed that an investigation is underway, with a trained dog deployed to assist in uncovering the details of the crime.
