Former IGP Sarbendra Khanal files application to register new party

The proposed central committee includes 35 members including Balkrishna Pandit. A party registration application had been filed under the name of Rajbabu Yadav on Sunday, but Khanal personally visited the commission today to amend the application and place himself as party chair.

KATHMANDU, Nov 17: Former Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Sarbendra Khanal has filed an application with the Election Commission (EC) to register a new political party named Samunnat Nepal Party.



The proposed central committee includes 35 members including Balkrishna Pandit. A party registration application had been filed under the name of Rajbabu Yadav on Sunday, but Khanal personally visited the commission today to amend the application and place himself as party chair.

According to the proposal, Khanal will serve as party president, while Pandit has been designated as general secretary. Khanal has claimed that a large number of former security officials will be joining the new party.


He has also stated that the party aims to work on addressing citizens’ issues and will begin preparations for upcoming elections.
