Former finance secy Khanal joins NC

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Former finance secretary Rameswor Khanal has joined the Nepali Congress (NC) amidst a function organized at the party´s central office at Sanepa in Kathmandu on Monday.



"NC President Sushil Koirala welcomed Khanal in the party, giving him ordinary membership," reads a press statement issued by the party.

Earlier, Khanal had announced that he will field himself as a candidate in the forthcoming Constituent Assembly election under the first-past-the post system from Palpa.

After resignation from the post of finance secretary in 2011, Khanal had briefly served as an economic advisor to then Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai.
