Former Bibeksheel Nepali chair Thapa no more

KATHMANDU, June 1: A leader of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party, Ujjwal Thapa, has passed away. 


Issuing a statement, Milan Pandey, chairman of Bibeksheel Sajha Party, shared that Thapa, 44, breathed his last at 4:25 PM on Tuesday.

Thapa, who had founded the erstwhile Bibeksheel Nepali Dal, was undergoing treatment for the past few weeks after he was diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. 


Although he tested negative for the virus on Monday, his health was critical, according to the doctors who were involved in his treatment. 


A few days before his death, he was provided treatment through the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) method at Nepal Mediciti Hospital, Kathmandu.      


Before being shifted to Mediciti Hospital, Thapa received treatment at HAMS and Grande Hospital in Kathmandu.
