According to officials of Go Automobiles, EcoSport will be competing with existing models like Chevrolet Captiva, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mahindra XUV 500, and Volkswagen Tiguan, among others.
“The car will give tough competition not only to SUVs but the sedans as well as it aims to cater both the sedan as well as SUV lovers,” added Shakya.
Ford EcoSport is powered by 1.0 liter 3-cylinder Ecoboost petrol engine that generates maximum power of 120 PS power and a peak torque of 170 Nm, Go Automobiles said in a statement. “The new Ecoboost engine is a down-sized direct-injected, turbocharged petrol engine that provides the same output as that of a 1.6-liter engine,” the statement, said adding that the engine provides the best fuel economy.
It also comes in 1.5 liter petrol variant that churns out a maximum power output of 118 bhp and 170 nm at 1,500 rpm.
Likewise, the diesel variant of EcoSport is powered by a four-cylinder 1.5liter; 8V SOHC diesel engine that gives power output of 90 bhp at 3,750 rpm and 204 nm at 2,000 rpm.
“EcoSport comes with both manual and automatic transmission. While the manual transmission has a five-speed gearbox, the automatic transmission has a six-speed power shift transmission,” the statement added.
When questioned how the car will perform in the Nepali market, Shakya said they have been receiving lots of enquiries about the new car and that they hope the car will be able to replace luxurious sedans.
“The SUV is environment friendly as it generates very low CO2 levels of 140 gram per kilometer, has 200 mm ground clearance suitable for Nepali roads, and is small and hence can be driven even in narrow roads,” said the statement.
The petrol variant of EcoSport gives mileage of 16 km per liter in city conditions and 20km per liter on the highway. Similarly, the diesel variant also provides better mileage of around 15km per liter in the city and 17-18 km per liter on the highway.
“The upright posture, soaring ground clearance, high bonnet, roof rails and sophisticated cladding are among various features that make the car eye-catching. Sleek LED headlights, pillarless rear windscreen and stylishly cut tail lights make this sporty SUV perfect for those consumers who want to stand out from others,” the statement added.
Shakya said price of EcoSport starts from around Rs 3.5 million.
