Flood wreaks havoc in Nuwakot

NUWAKOT, Aug 19: Ravaging flood triggered by continuous rainfall since Friday has displaced some households in Nuwakot and created risk of landslides.

NUWAKOT, Aug 19: Ravaging flood triggered by continuous rainfall since Friday has displaced some households in Nuwakot and created risk of landslides.


The flood damaged two houses belonging to Haribhakta Tiwari of Belkotgadhi Municipality-11, Amare. According to Tadi Police Office, a grocery shop, slaughterhouse, a small eatery and chicken farm operated inside Tiwari's house were completely inundated by flood.

Not just that, Ramraja Tamang and his wife Shuvalaxmi, tenants in Tiwari's house sustained injuries while escaping the flood. As estimated by police, property worth Rs 800,000 was damaged by the flood.


Similarly, the houses of Dil Bahadur Tamang and Manoj Lama of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-6 have also been affected by the floodwater. Flood swept away three of Lama's goats and damaged Tamang's clothes and food worth Rs 600,000.


Area Police Office Kharanitar informed that two houses owned by Dor Bahadur Tamang and one of Min Bahadur Tamang of Tadi Rural Municipality-6 were partially damaged by flood. Meanwhile, the house of Arjun Kasai of Bidur Municipality-2 was buried by landslide triggered by heavy rainfall.


Likewise, a massive landslide in Panchakanya Rural Municipality-4 has placed a lot of households in risk of displacement. Apart from that, the flood originated from Salakhu River of Kispang Rural Municipality-3 has completely damaged a 100-meter long bridge of the river.


Several other people have reported loss of properties and sustained serious injuries due to flood and landslides.
