According to Nanda Bahadur Bohara, one of the displaced villagers, the flood also swept away their kitchen utensils, clothes and food grains. “We have no food grains,” Bohara said. “We survived last year´s cholera outbreak. But I wonder how we will survive this year´s flood in the days to come.”
Govt to distribute relief
According to Republica correspondent Chandni Hamal, Distirct Natural Disaster Relief Committee (DNDRC) in Chitwan has decided to distribute relief materials to those displaced by the flood.
According to Bal Ram Luintel of DNDRC, the decision to this effect has been taken to properly distribute relief materials.
However, flood victims in Madi of Chitwan have refused to accept relief materials to be provided by the government. In stead, they have urged the government to relocate them to safer place, citing the recurrent flood havoc in Madi. They have been staging demonstrations for the last five days to press the government to fulfill their demands.
Altogether 380 families in Gardi and Baghauda of Madi have been displaced by in this year´s flood alone.
According to Republica correspondent Dilip Paudel, Nirmal Paudel of Baglung-4, was killed in a landslide on Tuesday. He was heading to catch a bus for Kathmandu when landslide killed him, said the police.
