Flood death toll rises to 35 in Far West, 23 still missing

BAITADI, Oct 24: The death toll due to floods and natural disasters in the Sudur Paschim province, including Baitadi, has risen to 35. Thirty-five people have so far died in the province due to the disasters caused by incessant rains since October 17.

At least 16 people have been killed in Doti district. According to the Far-Western Provincial Police Office, 10 died in Bajhang, four in Baitadi, three in Dadeldhura, and one each in Achham and Kailali.

As many as 23 people are still missing in the province due to the disaster. As many as 20 people are missing in Bajhang and one each in Baitadi, Doti and Kailali. 17 people have been injured in the disasters. Similarly, 11 people were injured in Doti, two in Dadeldhura, two in Baitadi and one each in Bajhang and Bajur. In Bajura, Doti, Dadeldhura, Bajhang and other districts, more than 100 animals have died and more than 60 are missing.

The landslide damaged 12 houses completely in Bajhang, six in Doti and two in Dadeldhura. Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have rescued 430 people out of 216 houses inundated by the floods.
