Most of the deceased were living in tents, where cold wind and due seep in, without any assistance from the government even almost eight months after the disaster.

Health workers said that with their houses damaged by the quake, the victims are forced to live in tents, making them susceptible to increasing cold.

They said that some of them have already taken ill as a result.

The deceased are Dhanraj Tamang, 95, of Dandakharka-8; Lal Bahadur Tamang, 86, of Jhule-4; Januka Karki, 83, of Jhule-4; Lal Bahadur Tamang, 68, of Gairimudi; and Bhadra Kumari Pokharel, 79, of Japhe.

Madhav Prasad Lamsal, District Public Health Office Chief, said that people particularly children and elderly are at risk of cold.

Although the government had announced to provide Rs 10,000 to quake victims as immediate relief, many of the victims in the district complained that they have yet to get the government succor.

According to the District Development Committee, although it asked Home Ministry to release Rs 850 million for quake victims in the district, only Rs 500 million has been released so far. RSS
