They are learnt to have gone on a tour to Kurintar, a popular tourist destination. Of them, Rajani Regmi, Liza Regmi and Monica Regmi were siblings. Asmita Thapa and Janak Raut are the other two missing in the river. They had left their houses at Sapkota Chowk in Bharatpur Municipaty-5 on Sunday noon.
According to the neighbors, Rajani, who had returned home after completing Heath Assistant course in Kathmandu, was accompanied by her two sisters a brother and two of their friends to Kurintar on the banks of Trishuli River.
According to eye witnesses, after taking a brunch at around 4 pm at a riverside resort near Manakamana Cable Car station, they had headed for the river bank.
“After one of them was suddenly swept away by the river others jumped in to save her, but none of them came out,” said Sonam Magar, an eye witness.
According to the neighbors, Rajani´s brother Prasanta, however, did not jump into the river. Monica is a nurse at Bharatpur Alab Hospital while Liza is a ninth grader at Eden Garden School in Bharatpur.
The Disaster Management team of Armed Police Force at Kurintar has started rescue operation, said the police.
