Five-member investigation committee formed under SSP Rathore

KATHMANDU, Sept 16: The Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari has taken swift action by establishing a dedicated five-member investigative committee to unravel the tragic mass murder that occurred in Gairigaun, Tinkune, Kathmandu.

SSP Dineshraj Mainali, the spokesperson at Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari, announced the decision to investigate the tragic incident. He disclosed that SSP Somendra Singh Rathore, the Chief of Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Kathmandu, would lead the five-member investigative team.

The investigative committee comprises highly experienced officers, including DSP Hari Khatiwada from the District Police Range, Kathmandu, DSP Subash Khadka from the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, DSP Surakshya KC from the Crime Investigation Office, and Inspector Birendra KC from the Baneshwar Police Circle.

Four people, including three from the same family, were killed last night in Gairigaun, Tinkune in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32. The lifeless bodies of two men and two women were discovered within the premises of the Divya Saw Mill located in Tinkune last night at around 11:55 PM.

The victims were 56-year-old Kumar Bhujel employed as a security guard at a wood mill; his wife, 52-year-old Ambika Bhujel; Kumar's mother, Shubhadra Bhujel, aged 76; and 20-year-old Nabin Rai, who originally hails from Belbari in Morang district.

According to the police, a 28-year-old Dipendra Rai, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32, Tinkune, has been taken into custody for interrogation. He himself went to inform the police. The police said that blood was found on his shoes and clothes.

It is learnt that Dibya Saw Mill is operated by Bal Krishna Shiwakoti, a resident of Dolakha, Kalinchowk. He currently resides in Gaushala.
