SINDHULI, May 3: At least five persons were killed and 18 others were injured when a bus carrying Indian pilgrims collided with a passenger jeep in Kavrepalanchowk on Wednesday morning.
According to journalist Devraj KC, who is present at the incident site, the accident occurred when the bus (UP 57 T8181) carrying Indian pilgrims en route to Uttar Pradesh of India collided head-on with a Tata Sumo jeep (Na 1 Ja 4210) on its way to Kathmandu from Sindhuli with passengers onboard at Roshi Rural Municipality-7 in Kavrepalanchowk.
Nawalpur bus accident dead and injured identified (update)
The deceased have been identified as Bikram Shrestha, 29, of Kamalamai Municipality-7, Sindhuli, Sangita Bhusal,7, and her mother Samjhana Bhusal, 29, of Khadadevi-7, Ramechhap, Pramila Nepali,44, of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-1, Sindhuli, and Hari Bahadur Bal in his forties of Kamalamai Municipality-4 of Sindhuli.
According to the District Police Office, Kavrepalanchowk, at least 18 other passengers of the bus and jeep were injured in the accident. It is learnt that the pilgrims on the bus were heading back to their homes after visiting the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu.
