First Science, Information and Technology National Youth Conference from June 18

KATHMANDU, May 18: The 1st Science, Information and Technology National Youth Conference-2018 is taking place in the Capital from June 18 to 20 with the aim to review existing situation in various aspects of science, information and technology, and make necessary work policy of related field in next 10 years. 

To be organised by the National Youth Council, the conference will provide an avenue for Nepali youth inventors and scientists to introduce their inventions and researches to the Nepali society and the world as a whole, said the programme coordinator Khim Panthi at an interaction organised today in the Capital to inform about the seminar. 

Working papers in various 12 subjects in natural science, medical and ayurveda, engineering and materials science, life sciences, information, communication and technology, agriculture and forest science, radiation and energy, micro-technology and vocational education will be presented in the conference. 

Addressing the event, academician of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Rishi Shah stressed the need for encouraging Nepali youth scientists to pursue their career within the country. 

An interaction was also held with a former NASA astronaut Sandra Hall Magnus at the event where she made a special presentation on space science. 

Likewise, a special programme would also be held on May 30 in the Capital where students will be provided information and knowledge about space. The event will be organised by the Nepal Astronomical Society in collaboration with the NAST. 

On the occasion, winners at the First Space Art Competition, 2017, the 4th National Astronomy Olympiad 2017 and the 2nd Women in Science Award 2018 will be handed out prizes, said Panthi. RSS
