First dengue case in two years in Jhapa

DAMAK, Oct 6: The first case of dengue fever in the two years has been confirmed in Jhapa, a Terai district in the eastern Nepal. 

A 52-year-old man of Damak-15 has been diagnosed with the dengue, a mosquito-borne tropical disease, according to Jeevan Chaulagain, vector control supervisor of District Public Health Office (DPHO), Jhapa. 

The patient is being treated in the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan. 

Earlier, the DPHO Jhapa listed the district as the high risk zone for the Dengue. 

It is noted that two years back, over a dozen people had been infected with the Dengue virus in the district mainly in Damak while two had died in Kakarvitta area. RSS
