Fire in furnace oil industry causes loss of Rs 5 million

MORNAG, Nov 18: A fire has broken out at a furnace oil factory in Katahari rural municipality-4 of Morang district. The fire broke out at Global Bio Energy Industry around 5:30 AM on Wednesday, according to the industry. The industry had been producing oil by refining old vehicle tires.

MORNAG, Nov 18: A fire has broken out at a furnace oil factory in Katahari rural municipality-4 of Morang district. The fire broke out at Global Bio Energy Industry around 5:30 AM on Wednesday, according to the industry. The industry had been producing oil by refining old vehicle tires.


According to Binit Singhania, operator of Global Bio Energy Industry, the fire started at around 5:30 in the morning and was brought under control only in the afternoon. “The industry was shut down at 2am on Wednesday and everyone had left the work,” said Singhania. “But we are still wondering how the industry caught fire.” Electric short circuit can be the reason and the fire is estimated to have caused a loss of Rs 5 million to the industry. However, the exact detail about the loss is yet to be received.

The fire was brought under control with the help of locals, police, armed police, army and fire brigade were received quickly. According to Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Deepak Shrestha, fire brigades from all security agencies, local level governments including Biratnagar, Itahari, Kanepokhari, Rangeli, Duhabi and Urlabari have brought the fire under control.


Similarly, police said that it was difficult to control the fire in the oil producing industry and it is suspected that the fire may have started due to short circuit.
