Fire engulfs shops causing loss of Rs 15 million

NEPALGUNJ, August 8: Loss amounting to Rs 15 million was incurred in a fire that broke out in two fancy shops at Nepalgunj sub-metropolis-2, Gharbari Tole.

The fire engulfed Prerana Fancy Store of Krishna Budha and Badimalika Order and Suppliers of Madan Kumar Shah in the city on Tuesday evening. Bir Bahadur Wali, Superintendant of Police (SP) of Banke, informed fire-incurred loss was estimated to be Rs 15 million.

According to him, the fire broke out from Badimalika engulfed the nearby fancy shop. Short circuit is primarily said to be the cause behind the fire. The security personnel with help from fire engine of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan city doused the inferno.

The incidents of fire caused by short circuit have increased in Nepalgunj of late. It may be noted that fire engulfed four business outlets in Nepalgunj in the past three months, shared Durga Prasad Bhandari, vice-president of Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

He pledged to take initiative for the management of relief and compensation to fire survivors and called for support from industrialists and business fraternity for necessary cooperation.
