Four houses at Khanbu-9 turned into ashes as the forest fire spread due to sudden strong gust of winds, according to the police. All the properties inside the houses, including cash, gold, food items, furnitures, among other valuables, were completely destroyed, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Nar Bahadur KC of the District Police Office, Udayapur.Police took control of fire at around 3 pm, four hours after it started, with help of locals, according to DSP Om Bahadur Rana Magar, spokesperson at the DPO.
Likewise, fire destroyed two houses in Durchhim-7 of Khotang district on the same day. The fire started after some children were cooking food.
The house belonged to Bokhal Jeet Rai and Sarba Jeet Rai of Rabuka village, Durchhim-7. Properties worth about 2 million were destroyed by the fire, according to the police.
Huge fire in Udayapur, 7 houses gutted
