Fifth Dhorpatan Men’s Volleyball from today

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The fifth Dhorpatan Open Men’s Volleyball Tournament is starting from Saturday at the Dhorpatan Sports Club Court in Gongabu, Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The fifth Dhorpatan Open Men’s Volleyball Tournament is starting from Saturday at the Dhorpatan Sports Club Court in Gongabu, Kathmandu. 


The President of the club Manbir Chhatyal informed that the participation of 16 teams has been confirmed. A total of 16 teams will take part in the tournament which will run till September 22. 


The teams are divided into four groups and will be played in league cum knockout format. The top two teams of each group will enter the quarterfinals.

The Group A consists of the host Dhorpatan ‘A’, Geetanjali College, Belkhu United and Angels’ Heart School, while the departmental team Armed Police Force (APF) Club, Dhorpatan ‘B’, Glacier College and Badi Rural Municipality Baglung are pitted in Group B. 


Similarly, the Group C comprises Three Star Academy, Nepal Chhatyal Association, Suryadeep College and Budhanilkantha Volleyball Club, while Gandaki Province, Springdale College, Palpa Volleyball Association and Dhanding Volleyball Club are in Group D.  


The winner of the tournament, which is named as M-150 Energy Drinks of the main sponsor Yeti Brewery, will be rewarded with Rs 100,000, while the runner-up will take home Rs 60,000. Also, the third-placed team will be given Rs 50,000. 


Similarly, the best spiker, the best blocker, the best defender, the best server, the best lifter and the best coach will be rewarded with Rs 5,000 each. One lucky audience will win a scooter, informed the organizers. The tournament will be coordinated by the Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA).
