"The popularity of volleyball is increasing in Nepal" Chhatyal said. "We were criticized for not hosting men’s volleyball competitions in recent times with the same intensity as women’s. It was due to some unavoidable technical problems. Now, we are determined to run both tournaments together."
The Dhorpatan Club has already hosted 13 editions of Women’s volleyball competitions in double-league format, in events held annually.
The tournament’s winner will get Rs 100,000 and the runner-up will bag Rs 60,000. Similarly, the third-placed player will earn Rs 35,000. The best player of the tournament is set to take home a scooter or motorcycle. The most impressive spiker, blocker, server lifter and coach of the tournament are also set to receive Rs 5,000 each.
In a bid to increase the involvement of spectators throughout the tournament, the organizers will award one of the lucky fans with one set of scooter, eight fans with Diamond brand mobile sets and eight other fans with t-shirts during the matches.
Yeti Brewery will inject Rs 500,000 cash in the tournament as main sponsors. Dhorpatan Club's president Chhatyal and Yeti Brewery's marketing director Bibhor Rayamajhi signed an agreement in this regard on the occasion. "It is an opportunity to get us all involved in the sport of volleyball. We would like to continue the agreement for future editions as well, and involve other sports as well," Rayamajhi said.
