JHAPA, Dec 6: With the aim of setting an example of women-friendly polling center, two such centers in Jhapa will be handled exclusively by female staffers only during the December 7 polls.
Female election officers, security personnel and helpers will be handling the elections in two polling centers in Bhadrapur Municipality-8. As informed by Purna Rai, an officer at the District Election Office (DEO), female staffers are careful enough to make the elections peaceful and systematic.
This is not the first time women are taking such initiative. In the recently concluded local elections too, these polling centers were handled by female staffers.
As informed by the DEO, one election officer, one assistant election officer, four assisting staffers and two helpers have been deployed in each of the two polling centers. Interestingly, all of them are females.
There are altogether 584,166 eligible voters in Jhapa. All the elections officers, staffers as well as security personnel have reached the polling stations by Monday evening and have already started their jobs. Locals here are eagerly waiting to be a part of the much-awaited elections. In fact, they are counting their days to cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice.
