SIRAHA, April 17: A few days ago, Rameshwar Prasad Yadav, the in-charge of Majhaura Health Post of Nawarajpur Rural Municipality, was found checking the health of one and half years old Kritika Yadav by holding her wrist in his hand, trying to examine her pulse rate. He was not using even a stethoscope because the health post doesn't have one. The health post lacks other minor medical tools required for checking blood pressure, cough and other problems.

TERHATHUM, March 19: With the objective of encouraging women to give births at birthing centers and health institutions, Menchyayem Rural Municipality of Terhathum has decided to increase the motivation allowance for such women. As per the decision, an additional Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 -- depending on the distance of their homes from the birthing centers or health institutions- will be provided to such women.

The Office of the Chief Election Officer said that entire preparation was completed for the re-polling in each center of Bafikot Rural Municipality and Athbiskot Municipality.

PAANCHTHAR, Nov 27: With a significant number of female election officers and security personnel, the polling center at Sumnima Chowk of Phidim-3 was considered an exemplary polling center of the district until the political parties played the spoilsport.

DOLPA, Nov 26: Two polling centers in upper Dolpa still remain out of contact. Contact with the Gherang polling center in Charkatangsong rural municipality and Kalang polling center of Dolpo Buddha rural municipality has not been established, the District Police Office said.

Voters from 52 polling centers out of 66 have started to cast their vote in Dolpa,a mountainous district,  from 7:30 am.

Two polling centers of Myagdi district have been made 'disable friendly' for the elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies. The two polling centers were developed disable friendly to ease voters with different disabilities to cast ballots.

KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Accelerometer centers, measuring earthquake, are going to be constructed at six different places of Kathmandu Valley with the Japanese support.  Japan had provided financial support for the construction of 10 accelerometer centres in Kathmandu Valley and 10 GPS stations out of valley after the Gorkha earthquake.

KATHMANDU, August 30: The Election Commission has fixed 3,578 polling centers for the third-round of elections taking place at 136 local levels of eight districts in Province No. 2. Sarlahi, Saptari, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Rautahat, Siraha, Bara, and Parsa are holding the local level elections. Among these districts, Sarlahi has the maximum 20 levels and Mahottari has the least number-15 levels.

PALPA, June 28: As many as four elderly people died while casting their votes in the second phase of the local elections on Wednesday. Among them, two died apparently due to cardiac arrest while they were in the queue to cast their votes in Palpa district.
