Fake PCR report prepared using letterpad of Bharatpur Hospital

CHITWAN, April 11: Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan has stopped taking PCR tests but some people have been found using fake Covid-19 test report prepared using the letterpad and  digital signature of the hospital.

The medical superintendent of the hospital Dr Krishna Prasad Paudel clarified that fake reports of PCR tests were prepared by misusing the letterhead and signature of the hospital.

According to Dr Paudel, the hospital stopped PCR tests of Covid-19 since January 26 . The PCR tests were stopped due to lack of reagents. However, the hospital still conducts antigen tests of 45 people daily.

Dr Paudel added that they have sought a police investigation following the misuse of the letterpad of the hospital and forged signatures of doctors stationed at the hospital.

Chitwan Police Spokesperson DSP Bijayraj Pandit said that the hospital wrote to the district police office asking for an investigation after it was found that the students taking the SEE and campus level exams had made fake PCR reports.

He added that the investigation about those who made fake reports is being carried forward. "The investigation is ongoing but no one has been arrested so far," said Pandit, the spokesman, "The culprits will be arrested after the investigation and action will be taken on charges of forgery of government documents and misappropriation of seals."
