KATHMANDU, May 18: Police have arrested the chairman of Nepal Hajj Committee, Shamsher Miya, in connection with the ongoing investigation into the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. A police source said that Miya was arrested from Kathmandu on Thursday and further investigation is underway.

It was revealed that government vehicles were used in the fake Bhutanese scam. The vehicle of the Hajj Committee under the Ministry of Home Affairs was brought to use in the name of interviewing the victims. It was found that the gang involved in the scam used a vehicle with government number plates to show that the interview was being conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The police investigation revealed that Miya had provided the vehicle to the gang.
