KATHMANDU, Oct 15: The Food Corporation has been running fair price shops in various 11 cities including the capital city in view of the biggest festival of Hindu people- Dashain. Birtamod, Biratnagar, Lahan, Janakpur, Birgunj, Dang, Tulsipur, Pokhara, Surkhet, Dhangadhi and Kathmandu have the fair price shops selling various essentials with some discount. 


In Kathmandu, the shops are operated at Nakkhu, Jawalakhel, Thapathali and Ramsaha Path. Chief of the sales department at the Corporation, Lal Mohan Thakur informed that one could buy japani rice at Rs 65, basmati rice at 71 and jira masino rice at Rs 50 per kg. Some discount is given on these items. Various other sorts of rice are found in the shops.

Soybean, buckwheat, sugar, ghee, salt and mutton are also sold at the fair price. The Himalayan goat is sold at Rs 700 per kg while the goat at Rs 490, giving the discount of Rs 10 in each. 


Chief of the department Thakur informed that even the remote 23 districts were supplied 15,868 quintal of rice considering the festival.
