Facebook holds discussion on community standards and content policy

KATHMANDU, Mar 3: At a time when contentious posts in social media platforms have drawn concerns across countries, Facebook, which also owns Instagram and Whatapps, has started holding consultative meetings to form an External Oversight Board to regulate such contents.

One such consultative meeting was held last week in New Delhi, India, bringing together experts from different countries in the region. Director of the Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) Dr. Nishchal N. Pandey was invited to participate at a one-day workshop organized by Facebook, which has its regional office in India.


According to a press release by the CSAS, the workshop held on February 27 had senior officials of the Facebook with prominent South Asian experts from diverse fields. Participants held a discussion about community standards and content policy of  Facebook and how it can be improved. Facebook has 1.5 billion daily active users.
