KATHMANDU, April 6: Nepal's senior industrialist Binod Chaudhary has become the only billionaire in South Asia apart from India by increasing his wealth by 100 million US dollars.
According to Forbes Magazine's list of the richest people in the world this year, Chaudhary is the only billionaire in South Asia apart from India.
According to a public list last night, only Binod Chaudhary of Nepal is a billionaire in South Asia apart from India. India and Nepal are the only countries in South Asia that have dollar billionaires. Other businessmen from South Asia, including Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Maldives and Afghanistan, did not make it to the list.
The wealth of Nepal's only dollar billionaire Binod Chaudhary has also increased. According to Forbes, his net worth has increased by USD 100 million from USD 1.4 billion last year to USD 1.5 billion this year. Businessman Chaudhary is ranked 1,929 on the Forbes list. Chaudhary has been on the list of billionaires since 2013.
Chaudhary, who is also a central member of the Nepali Congress and a member of the House of Representatives, has been active in politics lately.
