The students at Oxford College of Engineering and Management in Gaindakot, Nawalparasi, boycotted the first paper on Applied Mechanics accusing teachers for not teaching according the university´s curriculum.

They had been exerting pressure on the college administration for the past one month to postpone the exam. "We were taught only two days as per the curriculum," said Akash Jung Raut, one of the agitating students. "How could we appear in the exams in this circumstance? So, we protested."

The students had padlocked the college´s main entrance two days ago. The college administration, determined to conduct exams from Monday despite students´ protests, urged police to intervene.

The police entered the college premise climbing over the wall. However, one policeman, Arjun Kunwar, was electrocuted to death while attempting to enter the college premise.

Similarly, the exams of Probabilities and Statistics and Building Construction could not be held in Nepal Engineering Campus in Duwakot, Bhaktapur.

Students of Nobel Academy in Kathmandu also did not turn up for the first day´s exams. The exams at Pokhara Engineering College and Gandaki College of Software Engineering in Kaski, too, were cancelled.

Bishwo Raj Devkota, President of the Nepal Engineering Campus chapter of All Nepal National Independent Student Union Revolutionary (ANNISU-R), said the students will not appear in other exams, too. However, the university has maintained that the exams will continue as per the set schedules.
