Bagmati Province govt reopens trial exams for medium and heavy vehicles

KATHMANDU, June 28: The Bagmati Province government has reopened the trial exams for heavy and medium vehicles, including mini buses, mini trucks, lorries, buses, and trucks. The exams had been closed for about one and a half months. Trials for motorcycles and mini vehicles have been open since June 14.

The Bagmati Provincial Government's Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Transport has granted permission to reopen the trial centers in the valley for medium and heavy vehicle trial exams starting Friday. The trial centers include the Transport Management Office in Radhe Radhe, Bhaktapur, the Transport Management Office in Ekantakuna, and the Transport Management Office in Thulo Bharyang.

Balram Niraula, the Secretary of the Ministry, stated that the three trial centers in the valley can reopen medium and heavy vehicle trials starting Friday. He said, "We have already granted permission to reopen the trials."

Rajkumar Kapali, the head of the Transport Management Office in Ekantakuna, stated that online forms for practical exams for heavy and medium vehicles can be filled out starting Sunday. Similarly, Danda Bahadur Basnet, the head of the Transport Management Office in Radhe Radhe, said that they will begin practical exams for medium and heavy vehicles from Monday.

Easy Way Trial Center, Radhe Radhe ,Bhaktapur; Vehicle Academy and Research Center Pvt Ltd, Gurjudhara; Nepal Driving and Reconditioning Center Pvt Ltd, Gokarneshwar; and Suzuki Driving School Pvt Ltd, Ekantakuna which conduct trials for motorcycles and mini vehicles, have already started practical exams from June 14.

After the National Vigilance Center (NVC) issued instructions stating that the exams were not being conducted according to the standards set by the Operational Guidelines for Driving Test Centers of 2074 BS, the trial centers in the valley had stopped conducting practical exams since May 15.

The ministry and the NVC formed separate teams to inspect whether the closed trial centers had prepared the physical infrastructure according to the prescribed standards. After the inspection, a report was prepared confirming that the trial centers had completed the physical infrastructure as per the specified standards.

Previously, in mid-April, the NVC had formed a team to conduct a detailed study and inspection of whether the trial centers in the valley had prepared the physical infrastructure according to the prescribed standards.
