Republica caught up with Bryan Park, managing director of LG Electronics at the sidelines of the event to know more about LG, its situation in Nepal, future plans, among other issues.
How is LG electronics doing in the Nepali market?
We are growing each year. As CG is already an established brand here in Nepal, it has been very easy for us to grow and compete with other electronic brands and expand our market. We have massive market share of 30 percent in electronics items in Nepal. We are number one brand in the segments of washing machine and refrigerator. I hope we will be able to expand our business further in Nepal as our products use less energy. As there is crisis of energy, Nepal needs products that save energy and have long life.
How is LG doing in the global market?
We are already an established brand in the global market, with 15 to 20 percent market share in television, 30 percent in washing machine, and 20 to 25 percent in refrigerator. We are number-one brand globally when it comes to refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioners, and television. As we are a big name in big economies, we will now focus on countries having small economies. We are focusing on products that are energy-efficient, economic, and reliable.
Why should one choose LG products over other brands?
LG saves more energy in comparison to other brands. We were the first company to introduce inverter technology in electronics. In comparison with other brands, LG refrigerators save 36 percent energy, air conditioners saves 70 percent and washing machines save 26 percent energy.
How has been the partnership with CG so far?
It has already been around 30 years since we entered in the partnership. Without CG, it would be very difficult for LG to grow in Nepal. LG has been rated as No. 1 electronics brand in the Nepali market because CG has worked very hard for it. We provide good and quality products to CG and the after sales service of CG has been very good.
What is LG planning to do in Nepal to make people aware about the benefits of saving energy?
We are organizing promotional campaigns to make people aware about LG inverter products. We will also aware people about the benefits from our retailers, dealers, and different events. We are also planning to organize some big events this year for public where we will showcase all our inverter technology products.
