SURKHET, July 24: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that the way the Citizenship Bill was passed through parliament with the consent of the Maoists immediately after the India visit by Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal is suspicious.
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari Karnali in Birendra Nagar, Surkhet, on Sunday, Pokharel said that in the past, it was the Maoist Center that blocked the Citizenship Bill and that it was passed immediately after Dahal's return from India.
Pokharel said that an imbalance has arisen after the endorsement of the Citizenship Bill. He said that the UML is preparing to hold a protest against the Citizenship Bill on August 1.
