SINDHUPALCHOWK, Aug 15: Eleven people, who died in the landslide that took place at Lidi in Jugal Rural Municipality-2 on Friday morning, have been identified. Two men, four women and five children died in the incident, according to the District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk.
The deceased identified as Tikamaya Dong (36), Tshering Dong (14), Jite Jhakri (80), Milan Dong (8), Sanu Dong (5), Jaya Bahadur Dong (70), Dawa Lhamu Dong (30) and her two daughters - Priti Dong (5) and five-month-old Tara Lhamu Dong - Dhanmaya Tamang Dong (34) and her four-month-old son Remish Dong were cremated as per the Buddhist rituals, said a local Prem Dong.
Meanwhile, rescue works to find those missing in the landslide began early morning on Saturday. Security personnel including army and police are involved in the rescue work, according to Chief District Officer of Sindhupalchowk Umesh Kumar Dhakal.
Locals have also joined hands with security personnel to find the whereabouts of the missing persons. A total of 27 people have been reported missing since the landslide struck the settlement.
