Eating junk food is bad for health!

KATHMANDU, Dec 23: Food plays a big role in our life because we need food to live. In addition, it affects the shape of our body and helps us grow into an adult. Unfortunately, not all foods are good for health. Such food is known as junk food. For the past many years, junk food has been a part of our life. Whenever we are hungry, we want to have a quick, easy meal. We prefer junk food. It is very delicious. It is easy to eat too. We live in a very competitive society. Time is gold. Therefore, we eat junk food for saving time. This way chips, cheese ball, pizza, hamburgers, soda, fried chicken, oily food etc have replaced the nutritious food in our diet.

It is not wrong to eat junk food sometimes but if we eat junk food regularly, it may cause harmful effect to our health. It contains too much fat, low in nutrients, vitamins and usually contains harmful synthetic chemicals. This is not a healthy way to nourish ourselves. Junk food is certainly not a healthy option when we have to choose what to include in our diet. I clearly know and agree with doctors that junk food consumption must be controlled.

Eating junk food regularly leads to obesity that leads to other complications like increase the cholesterol level, high blood pressure, heart diseases, damage liver as well as increased body weight. Junk food contains extra salt than in nutritious food.  It is also unhealthy for the heart. Sugar is essential in junk food as it makes it taste so good. Soft drinks, biscuits, cakes; all have a lot of sugar. However, too much sugar makes people fat, rots the teeth, is bad for the blood and may cause other diseases. In addition, fast food restaurants have an important role in the increase of obesity all over the world. Advertisement contributes to the increase in the consumption of junk food. So, it must be also controlled by the government in order to lower the increasing number of obese people, impacted by junk food.

So, we should need to avoid eating junk food, which is bad for health. Good health is the necessity of living a healthy life for everyone. It needs to maintain a healthy diet and healthy habits throughout life.
