Talking to reporters at Tribhuvan International Airport Tuesday upon his return after attending the gathering, he said the conference expressed concern over sinister plans being carried out in Nepal to wipe out the identity of a Hindu state.[break]
People attending the conference, including many Nepali people living in several parts of India, concluded to use “all power” to make Nepal again a Hindu country, he said.
“When Nepal was the Hindu state, her glory had spread internationally and took the pride of Nepali people to a new height, but now that is not happening,” he said, reiterating that the new constitution should have a provision of Hindu state.
Referring to another context, he said political consensus forged among parties without a common destination is meaningless. “There is no alternative to go for fresh mandate since promulgation of the new constitution is impossible by May 28. The Constituent Assembly tenure should not be lengthened.”
According to Thapa, he didn’t meet leaders of Indian political parties other than Bharitya Janata Party and Shiv Seena.
