On the occasion, Shrestha, who is also the leader of the Nepali delegation to the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), said that conflict in many ways would be irrelevant when there was respect for human rights, inclusion and equity and justice in the socio-cultural and economic spheres of life.
´Sustainable peace-building, therefore, is a must for institutionalizing democracy and ending exclusion, injustice and repression´, said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He further said one-size-fit-all approach does not work to transform societies from post-conflict stage to stability and it is not possible without addressing the root cause of conflict.
The government has been effortful to transform society and economy of the country, he added.
DPM Shrestha further said Nepal was in the process of rebuilding nascent republican state to make Nepalese society more just, peaceful, equitable and prosperous, adding that the government was committed to resolving all outstanding problems through dialogue and consensus.
Minister Shrestha reiterated the Nepal government´s commitment to provide troops for the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations to contribute to the noble cause of international peace and security, according to Permanent Mission of Nepal for the United Nations.
Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister and minister for Foreign Affairs Shrestha also attended the opening of the general debate segment of the 67th Session of the UNGA on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shrestha held bilateral meeting with Bolivian President Juan Evo Morales Ayma and the two leaders felt the need of strengthening relations between the two countries.
On the occasion, the Bolivian President said that his country got a new constitution through constant social movements and shared the Bolivian experience of drafting statute.
