KATHMANDU, June 4: The 30th anniversary of the Women's Federation for World Peace (WFWP) was marked amidst a special event in Kathmandu. The event also coincided with the WFWP-Nepal’s Annual General Meeting.
In her opening remarks, WFWP Nepal’s President Blessie Dhakal highlighted the role of women in building peace and the works that the WFWP-Nepal is carrying out to achieve peace.
This was followed by the virtual presentation of WFWP Co-Founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon. WFWP International President Julia Moon then gave the President’s Address live on Zoom.
Let’s live in peace and embrace diversity
In her congratulatory remarks, Director of Nepal Republic Media Shova Gyawali applauded the role played by the WFWP to promote peace in Nepal and other countries. She said that education, advocacy, partnership, reconciliation, and humanitarian service—the core values of WFWP—are keys to build sustainable peace in the world.
On the occasion, Gyawali also highlighted the need to ensure proportionate representation of women in state-structures and end all forms of discriminations including those based on religion and caste to establish sustainable peace in Nepal.
Secretary General of World Humanitarian Drive Nepal Janaki Gurung formally closed the program with her closing remarks. The event was followed by a beautiful cultural performance.
WFWP, which has General Consultative Status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council, was established in 1992 by Dr. Hak Ja Han, the wife of late Dr. Sun Myung Moon. WFWP-Nepal has 9 chapters in different parts of Nepal and has been involved in humanitarian aid and educational projects all over Nepal.
