JANAKPUR, July 3: A dozen armed underground outfits, which are involved in various criminal activities in the Tarai for the past several years, have forged an alliance to disrupt the upcoming Constituent Assembly election.

They reached the agreement after a weeklong conference, which concluded on Wednesday at an undisclosed location somewhere in the Indian state of Bihar. [break]

A total of 13 outfits, including the Jaya Krishna Goit-led Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha, Rajan Mukti´s Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha, Nagraj´s Tarai Cobra, Prashant´s Tarai Rastriya Mukti Morcha, Jivan´s Madhes Mukti Tiger, had taken part in the meet.

The Goit-led Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha, however, walked out of the meeting after the others rejected his proposal to unite the outfits under its leadership or to maintain a working relationship.

As per an eight-point pact reached between the groups, the new alliance led by Rajan Mukti will be named Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha.

Besides issuing a warning to disrupt the CA election slated for November 19, the alliance has also warned the government to vacate all the police stations and armed police camps from the Tarai within 15 days.

Talking to Republica over the phone, Mukti said, "We also warn the locals living around police stations to vacate the areas within ten days.We will be launching strong armed activities in the Tarai in 15 days."

It has also branded prominent Madhesi leaders such as Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, Upendra Yadav, Mahantha Thakur and Rajendra Mahato as "betrayers of the Madhes", and has asked them to remove all their party offices in the Tarai.
