KATHMANDU, March 23: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) is preparing to take pending driving license tests of all 572,000 applicants by May-end.
Spokesperson of the DoTM Loknath Bhusal said the Department will soon be conducting tests on three shifts daily from all its offices operating across the country to clear the backlog. According to him, the government body has planned to conduct the tests within a week of a new applicant once they are done with the pending driving license tests.
Applicants of driving license exams forced to wait for two year...
The DoTM has been under pressure to conduct driving license tests on time since the government enforced months-long nationwide lockdown in March 2020 to contain further spread of COVID-19. The service seekers are compelled to wait even for over a year for their turn.
Citing an overwhelming number of applicants, the DoTM since last week stopped receiving new applications for driving license tests. According to the DoTM, it has to go into this action focusing first to clear the backlog driving license tests that are due for years.
