KATHMANDU, May 14: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) recently received the lab test report of driving license cards. Following the initiation of printing, a batch of cards underwent quality checks by the manufacturing company.
As per the DoTM, the test report, conducted by Germany's Muehlbauer Company, was received on Monday. The DoTM had procured 1.2 million cards from Muehlbauer for this purpose. Printing commenced once the cards arrived.

Presently, the DoTM is printing approximately 4,000 licenses daily. Initially, the DoTM focused on printing licenses for individuals intending to travel abroad for study, employment, and peacekeeping missions.
Ishwori Datta Paneru, the DoTM's information officer, stated that remaining licenses from respective transport management offices are being printed and dispatched.
Initially, printing operations were carried out for transport offices in Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces. Paneru mentioned that cards will be dispatched once printed. After that, the licenses to be distributed by the transport offices of other provinces will be printed.
Uddhav Prasad Rijal, the director general of the DoTM, said that he has received the report, but he hasn't reviewed it yet. He expressed confidence that the report confirms that the card’s quality aligns with the specifications.
