KATHMANDU, March 14: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) has announced to stop receiving new applications for driving license tests from Tuesday.
Issuing a public notice on Monday, the DoTM said that the DoTM will stop accepting new applications until further notice. According to the DoTM, it will focus first to clear the backlog driving license tests that are due for years.
The DoTM has been facing pressure to conduct driving license tests on time as it has tens of thousands of backlog applications after the government enforced months-long nationwide lockdown to contain further spread of COVID-19. The service seekers who apply now will have to wait up to next three years for their turn. With the backlog cases, around 600,000 applicants are now waiting in the queue for their turn to sit for the related tests.
