KATHMANDU, Nov 16: The Department of Transport Management (DoTM) , which has been facing difficulties due to overwhelming applicants of driving license, has stopped taking online applications during office hours.
Issuing a public notice on Monday, the DoTM has expressed its inability to take applications for driving licenses between 10 am and 5 pm. The DoTM said it enforced the new rule as the large number of online applicants put excess pressure on the server, disrupting even its daily official works.
After the DoTM resumed the online applications on October 25, nearly 400,000 people have applied for driving licenses in just three weeks. According to the DoTM, the total number of applicants has now reached 600,000 who are waiting for their turns to take driving license tests.
