KATHMANDU, Jan 30: The government is declaring the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) a broker-free zone in order to discourage unscrupulous activities within the department premises.

“Unnecessary movement of middle-men inside the compound of the department has been creating unnecessary crowds and causing difficulties for the general public and department employees. So, we have decided to restrict the movement of brokers inside the office from Sunday,” said Mohan Krishna Sapkota, director general of the department, at a press conference Friday.

He also said that the department would implement a token system at the office to grant work permits to overseas job-seekers on a first-come-first-served basis. “The system will be gradually extended to the other sections as well,” he stated.

Sapkota further informed that the government was thinking of signing labor pacts with Oman and Libya, considering the potential demand for workers in those countries.
