DUBAI, Dec 6: A documentary titled ‘The Plea of Mountain’ covering the damage caused by climate change in Nepal was screened at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP 28) underway in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
The documentary captures the issue of the melting of the snow in the mountains including Everest and Annapurna and its effect on people's lives. Similarly, due to climate change, floods and landslides in Nepal's Manang, Mustang, Sindhupalchok's Helambu, Melamchi, Dolpa's Phoksundo, Terai Madhesh have been covered.
Documentary by journalist Basnet screened at COP 27
The documentary features the voices of the residents of the affected areas and has drawn special attention to Nepal for climate justice.
The documentary was written and directed by senior journalist Balkrishna Basnet.
The documentary was screened at a special program organized by the Ministry of Forests and Environment and other organizations as part of the conference at the Nepal Pavilion. After the screening of the documentary, there was also an interaction between various experts.
The documentary The Voice for Climate Justice, written and directed by Basnet, was also screened at the COP 27 climate conference held in Egypt last year.
